Vézac, this little village
of 600 inhabitants lies in the heart of the Dordogne valley, 9 kms
south of Sarlat.

Its unique situation offers fine
views of several châteaux in the immediate vicinity, such as
Castelnaud, Fayrac, Beynac and Marqueyssac.
The last-named, classed as a listed site, comprises an 18th-century
residence and a splendid park planted
with box-trees, all carefully trimmed by hand, which also boasts “The
Dordogne Belvedere”, perched 130 metres above the river.

From
the belevedere, you have exceptional views
over the valley, the waterway and surrounding countryside,
as well as the villages of Beynac, La Roque-Gageac and Castelnaud.
The
commune has always been devoted to agriculture - nowadays, tobacco,
walnuts, maize and poultry - but is also home to various craftsmen
and high-quality food factories, as well as providing for holiday
activities...
Which is why, instead of making
Vézac just a staging-post,
many people on walking tours decide to stop there for the rest of
their stay.
