Much of the charm of this typical
Périgord Noir commune derives from the honey-coloured
stone of the houses hugging the narrow little streets of Saint-Vincent
de Cosse, their roofs covered with the traditional
lauzes, natural rock-slabs weighing almost 2cwt per square
foot.

Each of the many possible rambles in
the region offers reminders of its long rural heritage - wash-houses,
calvaries, dry-stone huts - as well as unsurpassed views over Beynac,
Marqueyssac and the Château des Milandes. Two listed
sites locally are the renaissance Château de Panassou
and the 12th-century church, built on a Gallo-Roman sub-foundation.
