The Community of Communes
of the Périgord Noir, covering seven
villages, has numerous riches to offer.
Along the River Dordogne, visitors can choose at will between open-air
activities (beautiful walks, canoeing, boat trips, climbing, fishing)
and the pleasures of exploring local sites reflecting 4,000 years
of history.
Nestling between cliffs,
river and forests, the villages, churches, manors and chateaux all
testify to our long history.
Among our greatest treasures
are Beynac and La
Roque-Gageac, officially listed among the
most beautiful villages in France, the medieval churches
of
Carsac and Saint-Vincent-de-Cosse,
the châteaux of Montfort and
Beynac, the Tarde Manor and exotic
gardens of La
Roque-Gageac, the
Dolmen of Peyrelevade (known as “The Devil’s Stone”)
in the commune of Vitrac, the
dry-stone huts of Saint-André-
Allas, and the Marqueyssac gardens at Vézac, with a belvedere
high over the river.
